Reflexology is based on the principle that reflex points on the feet are connected to corresponding areas throughout the body. In this way, the feet can be seen as a ‘map’ of the body.

Reflexologists work on the reflexes with their fingers and thumbs using specialised massage techniques, said to correct imbalances throughout the body and release blocked energy.

Victoria has a gentle approach to treatment ensuring that patients are put at ease and able to relax whilst benefiting from the treatment.

How can reflexology help you?

As with all holistic therapies, at the Hale Barns Therapy Centre the patient is treated both mentally and physically. Because of this, reflexology may be of benefit to people with a wide range of illnesses, from IBS and chronic pain to women’s health issues.

What does the reflexology treatment entail?

For your initial consultation, Victoria will discuss your full medical history and lifestyle profile, together with symptoms of the presenting condition.

The treatment usually starts with a warm-up massage before each area of the foot is massaged using specific techniques and pressure points. Most people find the treatment very relaxing and not at all ticklish. Occasionally a slight ache or tenderness in a particular area of the foot may be felt, but this will quickly disappear. The treatment ends with a relaxing massage.

Each session lasts about an hour and in most cases a series of sessions are necessary. Some clients book a regular weekly or monthly session as a preventative measure, to keep their systems balanced and in good working order.

Regular reflexology treatments can help with:

  • Relaxation
  • Stress relief
  • Insomnia
  • IBS
  • Women's health
  • Detoxification
